Abstract:

In this paper there is presented an extended analysis of vibration and resonance phenomenon in a three phase stepper motor of 225W which is driven with low command frequency in an incremental and continuous way similar to micro stepping. The low mechanical resonance frequencies were emphasized in order to be removed from the control and command algorithm at a low shaft speed (0.003Hz-0.3Hz). The acquisition and processing of the vibration data was done experimentally and the vibration spectral data was processed in the low frequencies interest domain. It has been found the need to develop a motor stepper control algorithm that takes into account these resonances ranges. Also, this analysis can be used to improve control algorithms that aim at continuous and smooth operation without vibrations of the stepper motor in micro stepping mode.
