Abstract:

The purpose of this work is to provide analysis and experimental evidence of the existence of sinusoidal oscillations in a fractional-order Hartley oscillator. For this purpose a simple operational amplifier based implementation of the oscillator is studied and verified in three different cases. In particular, the first case is when the passive T-network is composed of two identical inductors and a fractional-order capacitor while the second and third cases correspond to this network being realized with one fractional-order inductor. The fractional-order characteristic equation is different in each of the three cases and hence the start-up condition and frequency of oscillation are also different in each case.
