Abstract:
We propose a novel Brillouin-based loss-monitoring scheme for passive optical networks (PONs) that can compensate for Brillouin gain profile variations along cables. The highly sensitive measurement of a PON with mixed deployment of different fibre types was successfully demonstrated.
