Abstract:

We demonstrated a single-mode 8-core fiber with the optimum zero-dispersion wavelength for a high-speed GbE system using 175-μm cladding and 250-μm coating diameters. The fabricated 8-core fiber is potentially applicable to 40-km bi-directional 1.6TbE transmission on one fiber.
