We experimentally demonstrate that 2nd-order, forward or backward-pumped ultralong cavity Raman laser amplifiers are unaffected by polarisation-dependent gain thanks to the depolarisation of the intermediate Stokes, and can actually benefit from the use of high-power polarised pumps.
