Abstract:

The impact of polarization dependent loss on probabilistically shaped and uniform DP 64-QAM for a bit-wise achievable information rate of 4.68 bits/2D symbol is quantified. For an outage probability of 0.003, the shaping reach increase is reduced by 50%.
