Abstract:

Quality of Optical Frequency Combs generated by gain switching of DFB and Discrete Mode lasers is evaluated. Driving conditions rather than device properties determine the OFC quality. Optimal conditions for comb generation are obtained. Optical injection can improve the OFC quality.
