Abstract:
This paper proposes an alternative to the aeronautical engineering education, in complementation for the flight simulation and immersion. It consists of a low cost Ground Station where the students are able to control a small UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), having a teacher as a co-pilot, and visualize the flight in a FPV (First Person View) with an embedded camera in real time. Made of spare aircraft parts, mostly, and being projected to be a light equipment and fit a small truck, this system is designed to be easily transported, assembled and prepared for flight. The First Person View Ground Station is a great alternative for teaching purposes, providing the students a true flight experience and a holistic formation in aeronautical engineering.
