Abstract:
This study explores the perspectives of industry professionals on the future of convergence education, with the goal of identifying key competencies and educational strategies essential to adapting to rapid technological and societal changes. The research methodology included a comprehensive survey that gathered insights from industry experts, educators, and administrators, providing a multifaceted view of evolving educational needs. The survey revealed a strong emphasis on practical and problem-solving skills, which are seen as increasingly important in a rapidly changing technological environment. Cognitive flexibility, or the ability to adapt thinking strategies to new situations, emerged as a critical competency, particularly relevant in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This skill is essential for addressing complex challenges and fostering creativity, suggesting that education should foster the ability to think from multiple perspectives and engage in effective problem solving. The study also highlighted the growing importance of soft skills in the industrial sector. Skills such as effective communication, collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit were identified as key drivers for success in a collaborative and networked work environment. In addition, resource management and digital literacy were highlighted, reflecting the increasing integration of digital technologies into all aspects of work. The findings have significant implications for both education and industry, underscoring the need for a collaborative approach to developing educational content and methodologies that meet the needs of the future workforce. The emphasis on a mix of practical skills, cognitive skills, and digital literacy points to the need for a holistic approach to education that equips individuals not only with technical skills, but also with a well-rounded skill set that includes critical thinking, adaptability, and effective interpersonal skills.
