Abstract:
This article presents an approach in which software agents fulfill transportation tasks in a production facility. Therefore, the coordination of different agents is managed in a decentralized way using a multi-agent system. Various aspects of the market economy are implemented into the behaviors of the agents. Since the heterogeneous system consists not only of automated transport systems but also of the human worker, important features of the interaction between humans, trust and reputation, are implemented into the agents’ behaviors. The overall approach is simulated and the benefits of those aspects for the overall system e.g. workload of the transport resources is investigated.
