In this paper, we overview current products available on the market, patents, and state-of-the-art of research for cloud solutions based on wearable ECG biosensors. Building a medical cloud that uses such sensors motivates us for a 24h healthcare monitoring service. Furthermore, we identify several challenges, which have to be solved to enable a complete solution for a generic medical cloud capable of communication with medical institutions and caregivers. The analyzed ICT challenges include reception of streaming data from sensors, preprocessing of streams and their storage, automated analysis of received data, monitoring of specific ECG-related data, etc. The analyzed patents can be categorized as methods for 1) measuring ECG, 2) communicating with the main module, 3) managing heart condition and 4) for cardio-physiological mathematical modeling. Only methods for signal communication and management of heart condition based on wearable patched ECG sensors are analyzed in this paper for their application as a cloud-based heart monitoring system.
