Abstract:
This Research to Practice Full Paper presents the design and initial evaluation of engaging students in a random signal analysis course through a set of application-oriented mini-projects involving real-world examples. Many students struggle learning the concepts of probability and random processes due to its abstract nature. The goal of these mini-projects is to help students better understand abstract course concepts, let them practice applying course concepts to solve real world problems, and at the same time, improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills. This paper will describe the design and implementation of these mini-projects, as well as their preliminary evaluation.
