Abstract:

This paper presents an indoor locating system on wearable glasses for people with visual impairment. The proposed system is implemented by visual marker recognition. Because people with visual impairment have difficulty searching markers, this paper proposed a custom color marker which is detectable in 15 m maximum when its size is 400 cm2. The marker recognition can be processed in real-time on a quad-core mobile phone. In addition, to improve the walking experience for people with visual impairment, we use multiple micro ultrasonic sensors to achieve obstacles detection for low power. The locating system and obstacles detection can work standalone or in parallel.
