Abstract:

As the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT), communication between object, device and machine becomes a popular topic. The application of barcode has become an irreplaceable technique in the field, which provides a new way to embed various information such as hyperlink and text. In this paper, we present a novel voice-based 2D barcode system, which directly embeds voice into a barcode. Initially, the voice data stream is encoded in a binary format into a 2D barcode symbol. Then, the camera acquires the 2D barcode symbol and decodes by a decoding program. Our system is implemented on standard mobile devices with a camera. It does not need any network connection. The proposed method is suitable for plenty of use, such as the accessibility feature for the visually impaired individuals.
