Abstract:
This paper reviews the design of the unique ultra-slim(5.5mm width) NFC antenna integrated into the 3+2 button clickpad of the metal-covered ultrabook PC. It is impossible for NFC to radiate the RF through the metal-covered of palm rest on the ultrabook PC. The conventional solution to resolve this problem is to integrate NFC loop antenna under the touchpad. However, this will cause additional parts cost-up and increase the complexity of the touchpad PCB because two kinds of touchpad PCB assemblies with NFC and without NFC are required. New ultra-slim NFC antenna requires only one kind of touchpad PCB assembly.
