Abstract:

This paper presents an approach to lower cross-polarization vector with high isolation among dual radiating elements for dual polarized Doppler radars. The radiating structure comprises of two elements capable of radiating in dual polarization and is excited indirectly by transmission line. Each element has corners, flat and curved faces with aim to evaluate cross polarization. The structure is tuned to 5GHz frequency with less than -34.5dB S11 parameter. Cross polar vector magnitude reduction to -43.3dB in reference to co-polar vector magnitude of 0dB with -22dB theta and phi plane isolation for flat faces arrangement obtained. It is found that cross polarization is inversely related to product of radii of surfaces of radiating structure facing each other.
