Abstract:

A next-generation IoT device and service search system has been proposed that can manage a massively large number of IoT devices and discover various services provided by these devices. This system collects various information on IoT devices using the Lightweight Machine to Machine (LwM2M) protocol and provides a web service that enables users to search for the location of IoT devices and the services they provide. However, the IoT devices to be searched must implement the LwM2M protocol, and legacy IoT devices that do not or cannot implement LwM2M protocol have been excluded from the management of this system. This paper proposes a method to collect data and offered services from legacy devices that do not support LwM2M by using an LwM2M gateway. A fundamental evaluation experiment shows that the proposed method has better scalability than the conventional method.
