Abstract:
Network densification in next-generation communication systems will certainly push Service Providers (SPs) and Infrastructure Providers (IPs) to devise novel localization techniques in deploying new base stations. Strategic placement of new base stations (BSs) within the existing network is crucial in achieving minimal installation and maintenance costs without compromising the QoS to the end users. In this work, we proposed a novel low-complex algorithm to determine base station locations that are essentially cost-effective for a given area map. Application of proposed algorithm on the radio maps provides the optimal locations for new BSs. The proposed algorithm significantly reduces the SP costs of deploying the new BSs without disrupting the QoS agreement with the user. The results show the proposed algorithm provides the cost-optimal essential BSs and respective locations for a given geostationary map. Furthermore, this algorithm can be deployed as software to aid the SPs in the operation of wireless networks at lower costs.
