Abstract:
Connected and automated vehicles will occupy our roads in the future, we need to have infrastructures which should be ready to efficient management when they are close to critical areas as junctions, motorway insertions or highway toll approaches. Urban scenarios have been considered since many years for the management of road intersections. Many technical solutions are deployed on light management centers using Road Side Units (RSU). These RSU manage the intersection by running specific policies. In the C-ITS domain (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems), I2V communications (Infrastructure to Vehicle) are used to inform vehicles on the road status: traffic jams, accident, weather conditions, etc. They could also be used to advice some operations to vehicles But V2I has to be used to collect data on the current vehicles present into the intersections. Vehicles continuously send messages about their status (position, timestamp, speed, heading, etc.) using adapted beacons called CAM (Cooperative Awareness Messages). In this paper, we detail our architecture which is able to ensure an optimized intersection crossing process for all vehicles in interconnected junctions. The aim is to reduce the waiting time for all vehicles. We offer the consider that vehicles could cross the junction simultaneously for vehicles when they do not drive on “concurrent” lanes.
