Abstract:
With the growing popularity of the Internet, information is easier to distribute and obtain than ever. Among the efforts of developing practical applications over the Internet, video streaming has drawn a lot of attention both from academia and industry. However, the best-effort nature of the Internet poses many challenges to meet the bandwidth, delay, loss, and QoS requirements for transmitting video. In this paper, we address these problems by proposing new approaches to maximize the perceptual quality for streaming video. Our contributions in this paper are: (1) our proposal of video streaming over the Peer-to-Peer network to complement the existing client-server model (2) our investigations on an innovative scalable video coding technique based on the inter-subband redundancy removal using the neural network techniques.
