Abstract:

Transparent TCP acceleration is an approach to increasing TCP throughput without requiring any changes in end-system TCP implementations. Network processing technology is used to intercept and transparently relay TCP connections inside the network. Due to the transparent nature of the system, incremental deployment and opportunistic acceleration is easily possible. The simulation results show that a single acceleration node can improve throughput twofold. More acceleration nodes can further increase the performance improvement, particularly on lossy links.
