Abstract:

This paper investigates the spectral efficiency of Zero-Forcing (ZF) receiver in a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system, taking the user status, transmit antenna correlation, shadowing and co-channel interference (CCI) (i.e., multi-cell environment) into account. In particular, we propose the classical Rayleigh/log-normal distribution (RLN) to characterize the fading channel. New closed-form expressions are derived for the uplink spectral efficiency and a new accurate closed-form lower bound is determined to obtain useful insights into the implications of the model parameters on the system performance. The numerical results are sustained via Monte-Carlo simulations.
