Abstract:
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems are found in various places and used for various utilities including crime prevention, traffic monitoring, transport safety, sporting events, etc. In spite of such versatile uses, the availability of resources limits our capability to install CCTV cameras and monitor locations wherever it is needed. Our prime focus being crime prevention led us to conduct a study to find the locations with the maximum need for CCTV surveillance and arrange them in preferential order. Criteria have been selected according to need and weight has been assigned to them using the AHP technique. Data has been acquired using a questionnaire. Since the responses from the questionnaire are ambiguous FUZZY TOPSIS method is used. The proposed methodology has been illustrated through a case study in North Delhi. The research can be incorporated by the police department, local municipal bodies, and any such traffic monitoring agencies and public works department. The beneficiaries include local residents, the general public.
