Abstract:
Till now in mobile communication, we have seen several techniques to eliminate the fading effects. One of the less exploded techniques is based on the physical parameter of the transmitter by adaptively updating the physical dimension of the transmitting antenna. This paper proposes a self adaptive technique to eliminate severe fading effects in multi antenna setups by adaptively updating the effective aperture of the transmitting antenna which has been tested and verified with high data rate systems like Multiple Input-Multiple Output (MIMO)-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). The system changes the effective aperture of the transmitting antenna in time varying channels to adapt to a previously set system parameter. Here, two approaches are considered for the fading environment. Firstly, the system is tested in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) standard Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) MIMO channel and secondly, in flat and frequency-selective Rayleigh channels with Co-channel Interference (CCI) from distant transmitters. For both the cases, the system performance is analyzed in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and magnitude and phase tracking at the receiver. We will see that our results show significant performance improvement.
