Abstract:

This paper presents a fixed-time second order sliding mode control approach for nonlinear systems to ensure high dynamic performance, where the estimated upper bound of settling time is independent of initial states. By placing zero points of close-loop control system, it is convenient to actively adjust the motion trajectory of system state and further improve dynamic performance, not only the stabilization at equilibrium point. Based on this method, a novel fixed-time second order controller is developed and its settling time is derived according to the actual convergence process. Comparisons with similar second order controller demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed algorithm. This method for enhancing dynamic performance is especially useful in tracking control of nonlinear time-varying systems.
