Abstract:
The SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is mainstream interface used in current computer systems. Research and improvement on its security is also becoming increasingly important. In order to enhance the authentication and integrity verification of traditional SATA protocol, HSATA, Improved SATA protocol with HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) is designed, in our mechanism, HMAC is constructed based on the Chinese Hash SM3 algorithm, then this algorithm is introduced to original SATA protocol to implement data integrity check function, which can make original SATA protocol greatly improve the ability of avoiding the man-in-the-middle attack and data forgery attack. Our improved HSATA protocol is designed and implemented by Verilog HDL language, and tested on Xilinx hardware development board. The results show that the improved HSATA protocol can realize the accurate data transmission and has better data transmission performance comparing with the original SATA protocol. It has wide application prospect.
