Abstract:

The 3GPP LTE-Advanced specification proposes the Mobile Multi-hop Relaying (MMR) technology to increase wireless coverage, and thus improves radio channel quality and signal-interference-to noise ratio (SINR). MMR in LTE-Advanced is one of the critical handoff issues that should be completely solved. A new efficient Connection Admission Control managing the qualities of different-class traffic is a required key factor to achieve a high system reward for 4G LTE-Advanced MMR handoff. The Dynamic Cost-Reward-based (DCR) mechanism is proposed herein for the LTE-A CAC, in which DCR includes two contributions: using the Markov decision process to formulate the carrying cost and proposing different reward functions for different classes of traffic.
