Abstract:

Cable television operators are considering the introduction of IP broadcasts for distributing video signals via IP multicast. We studied 4K/8K multi-channel IP broadcast on a fiber to the home (FTTH) transmission line. however, the in-building transmission system in an apartment building is not FTTH. Therefore, in a previous report, we proposed a method for carrying out IP encapsulation and discuss in-building transmission device based on the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) standard that enables IP communication on a coaxial cable. This time, we have prototyped the IP encapsulation device and confirmed that 4K/8K multi-channel distribution is performed as designed. And we have evaluated packet error rate of the in-building transmission device in an experimental environment.
