Abstract:
A prototype of a low-cost and accurate heart rate monitoring system has been designed and implemented. We used Texas Instruments TM4C123G LaunchPad as a cost-effective ARM Cortex-M4 based microcontroller, a low-cost plug and play pulse sensor, and Nokia 5150 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) as a monitor. A digital filter was designed and implemented in C programing language to smooth the signal and get an accurate heart rate.
