We propose an effective prefetching scheme for random channel change in IPTV multicast service. The proposed scheme determines a prefetching channel based on numeric key inputs of the remote control. It can reduce the channel zapping time with a little sacrifice of additional network bandwidth by performing procedures causing delay factors in parallel. Finally, experimental results are provided to show superior performance of the proposed scheme.
