Abstract:

Due to the weak diffraction, millimeter-wave (mm-Wave) communication is vulnerable to human blockage. Relay technology is an effective way to cope with LOS link interruption. However, how to quickly find appropriate relay is critical to network performance due to the need of transmission continuity. This paper proposes a fast relay selection (FRS) algorithm based on the geographical location information. By narrowing the relay candidates in specific sectors, FRS greatly reduces the relay searching overhead time compared with traditional exhaustive relay selection (ERS). Simulation results show that FRS improves searching efficiency at the expense of the minimal loss of channel capacity.
