Abstract:

A 7 Gb/s micro rotatable non-contact connector is developed for AI-controlled industrial equipment applications. The micro rotatable transmission line coupler (MRTLC) provides constant communication at any angle and features a new deep-proximity coupling mode with wide communication bandwidth and high coupling gain. In the conventional RTLC, the signal reflection caused by the impedance mismatch of vias are not absorbed and resulting in multiple-signal reflections which will degrade signal integrity. The ground shielding via (GS-via) structure is used to reduce signal reflections to 1/18 compared to the conventional signal vias. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed connector can achieve a 1.17 times faster data rate and 5.2 times higher energy efficiency than the most advanced rotatable non-contact connector.
