Abstract:
This paper presents a precision bandgap reference with no amplifiers. High-order curvature compensation for this circuit is accomplished by MOSFET transistors operating in subthreshold region. The circuit applies a novel piecewise compensation technique. It extends temperature range without sacrificing voltage stability. The bandgap reference circuit is implemented and simulated in standard CMOS 0.18μm technology. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed BGR achieves a competitive temperature coefficient of 4.6 ppm/°C over a wide temperature of -45°C to 170°C. The whole circuit consumes only 70μA at 1.8V supply voltage. The active area is 0.09mm2.
