Abstract:

This paper takes Wuhan metro type A and B vehicles for example, using a simulation method to study the passenger evacuation capability of different metro vehicles. Firstly, the dimensions and interior layout of the two types of carriages have been investigated and compared. Then, passenger evacuation simulation models of these two types of vehicles have been simulated by AnyLogic software. The relationship between the occupant load and the crowd evacuation timeframe was studied under different metro vehicle type. The validation results show that the simulation models are suitable for metro carriage evacuation researches. Through model simulation, it can be seen that, the crowd evacuation time is linear with the number of passengers with correlation coefficients R2 higher than 0.99. The interior space including the number of doors, the width of the carriage, the number of grab poles and the effective area of the carriage are all affect the evacuation efficiency of passengers. Under the condition of full occupancy, the evacuation efficiency of type A vehicle is 14% higher than that of type B.
