Abstract:

The binary countdown scheme has been investigated as the MAC protocol in the multi-hop network. However, since the conventional binary countdown scheme has the hidden terminal problem, the packet success rate and the throughput are low. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, a novel binary countdown scheme which combines the relaying system with the spread spectrum communication system is proposed. Generalized Modified Prime Sequence Code(GMPSC) is used as pseudo noise(PN) code. The packet success rate and the throughput of the packet transmission is evaluated by the theoretical analysis. Moreover, the proposed scheme is compared with the conventional binary countdown scheme. As a result, it is found that the proposed scheme achieves higher packet success rate than the conventional binary countdown scheme. Moreover, the performance degradation from the ideal packet success rate which is a case when there is no hidden terminal problem becomes small.
