Abstract:

Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC) is considered one of the foremost waveforms for the future wireless communication system. Because of multi-carrier transmission, UFMC system conveys high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), which reduces the system performance. This paper uses improved partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique to reduce the PAPR of UFMC system. In PTS scheme, multiple signals are generated and the lowest PAPR signal transmit. An improved PTS scheme is proposed in this paper with reducing computational complexity. Simulation results and theoretical analysis show that proposed PTS scheme performs better PAPR reduction, PSD performance, and BER than the original PTS.Our proposed scheme reduces PAPR by around 3 dB compared to the original signal, while PSD performance improves by around 10 dBW/Hz without increasing BER.
