Abstract:
Vehicular networks have emerged as a new component of future wireless networks. These vehicular networks have a high data rate and low latency requirements for smooth vehicle functioning. Traditional networks lack infrastructure, resources and solution approaches to meet such requirements. To address the challenges of efficient content delivery to vehicles, we propose to utilize the traffic signal on a road intersection for caching the popular vehicular data content. In this way, incumbent road infrastructure is efficiently exploited without the need for any additional installments. To further utilize the power and bandwidth resources for efficient content delivery to the vehicles, we formulate a joint optimization problem under the constraints of the commute time of a vehicle. The problem is solved by decomposing it into two sub-problems of power and bandwidth allocation. Power allocation is performed such that a certain SNR level is ensured. It is worth noting that every vehicle passing through the intersection experiences a different commute time. This commute time is used as a constraint for the bandwidth allocation. Simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme delivers the content efficiently to the vehicular networks.
