Abstract:

An efficient wavelet-based multiresolution approach to the stereo vision problem is presented. A cost function is defined and iteratively minimized. The minimization is performed on the image representation in wavelet space. We employ the theory of representation of operators in spaces spanned by scaling functions and thereby take advantage of a simplified approximation of differentiation. Examples illustrate the advantages afforded by the application of our algorithm over correlation-based methods.
