Abstract:
A hydraulic servo torsional vibration tester with high output is often used to confirm the vibration durability performance of torsional dampers for automobiles. Hydraulic servos have a high output and are easy to control but have the disadvantage of high-power consumption. By using an electric servo to increase the inertia on the torsion axis and conducting the vibration test near the resonance point, the power consumption of the tester can be greatly reduced, but the control performance might deteriorate. In this study, we devised a control method based on an I-PD control and model predictive control, and obtained the control performance equivalent to the hydraulic servo torsional vibration tester. Also, in the case of the torsional vibration test of the same damper, the developed electric servo torsional vibration tester achieved a 90% reduction in power consumption compared to the hydraulic servo torsional vibration tester.
