Abstract:

This contribution presents an energetic optimization by switch point detection for same-sized centrifugal pumps driven in parallel mode based on pump power demand. The method is tested in Matlab/Simulink and can be implemented in a PLC to tune a parallel pump system on-line during operation. Furthermore, the potential energy savings of 24 different pumps and five different piping-systems are shown which leads to energy savings up to roundabout twelve percent compared to the classical operation method. The influence of operation point is analyzed based on the simulations which came to the result, that the presented switch point adaption is useful for pump systems with a head set equal to or below the best efficiency head.
