Abstract:

Improper sitting posture is a common issue affecting many individuals, even young ones. Prolonged periods of sitting, whether at work, studying, or at home, can lead to back pain and other health problems. The study focused on the software’s material specifications and system flow required to create the system. The engineering design process involved using real-time image processing and force-sensitive resistors to determine the posture of the user. The human pose estimation method was used to estimate the body model parameters. The study found that familiarity with different hardware and software is important to create the project easily. The force-sensitive resistor provided high-accuracy results, but factors such as distortion can affect the outcome when using the camera. The mathematical model created by the researchers produced accurate results. The system helps users maintain proper sitting posture and monitor their improper sitting behavior history and records. Future research could consider the use of other components for more reliable use and delve into the safety of the different components used. Improvements to the camera holder, position, and power source could also enhance project efficiency. Overall, the development of a sitting posture notification and monitoring system can aid in preventing the negative effects of improper posture and promote better health practices for individuals who spend prolonged periods sitting.
