Abstract:

This paper presents research results about autonomous inspection of power transmission towers and insulators using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The image acquisition is performed during autonomous flight of quadrotor helicopter. The real-time recognition of the transmission towers and insulators is based on YOLO (You Only Look Once) system. This is a collaboration research with a power company and it is planned to implement the proposed system in inspection works of power lines. Several experimental examples presented here prove the capabilities and usability of the proposed system.
