Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a bandwidth scalability for digital terrestrial broadcasting, which uses a wide bandwidth of multiples of the conventional bandwidth 6/7/8 MHz. Wide bandwidth broadcasting uses wider bandwidth than the legacy 6/7/8 MHz and may have advantages in reducing network installation cost and operation cost. By allocating bandwidths not to interfere with neighboring coverage, it does not make interference problem. Therefore the proposed scalable bandwidth transmission has advantages not only in reducing network installation cost and operation cost but also in reception performances due to avoiding interferences. Especially it also has advantages in the soft transition of broadcasting systems.
