Abstract:
In this paper, we present a low power gap-filler using transmission chip for ATSC 3.0 mobile TV broadcasting. For city areas surrounded by high buildings, there will be many small wave shadow zones of several hundred meters long along the roads. They prevent TV broadcasting signal propagation and result in reception failures, which becomes a big problem for mobile TV broadcasting. To overcome this problem, the same number of gap-fillers is required. But when conventional gap-fillers are used to cover the wave shadows, it may result in another big problem, cost increases. To solve this dilemma, we propose a cheap gap-filler with ATSC 3.0 transmission chip, which has advantages of not only low prices but also network installation and operation cost reductions of mobile TV broadcasting.
