Abstract:
Dynamic searchable encryption (DSE) schemes enable users to search over encrypted data that are outsourced to untrusted cloud servers with the support of data dynamics such as addition and deletion. Although software-based DSE schemes have been developed to improve security and functionality, many of them still has limitations in terms of efficiency and information leakage. In order to overcome such issues, DSE schemes leveraging trusted execution environment (TEE) such as Intel SGX have been introduced. In this paper, we investigate the existing SGX-based dynamic searchable encryption schemes and conduct a comparative analysis of them. Based on the analysis result, we discuss the challenges and open problems in the literature. and future research directions.
