Abstract:

Fluorinated graphene is an uprising member of the family of graphene derivatives, which, due to its high reactivity, can be easily modified chemically, resulting to modification of its wide bandgap and therefore allowing for the preparation of fluorographene derivatives exhibiting different and variable opto-electronic properties, while the choice of suitable chemical groups can add new properties and functionalities as well. In the present work, the characterization of the nonlinear optical response of some recently synthesized octylamine modified fluorographene derivatives is reported. The nonlinear optical response of these octylamine-fluorographenes was investigated under visible and infrared nanosecond laser excitation. The present results, besides the significant enhancement of the nonlinear optical response of these modified fluorographenes, demonstrate the efficiency of chemical functionalization in engineering the nonlinear optical response of fluorographene.
