Abstract:
This paper assesses the effect of a reliable groupcast scheme on QoE of audio and video multicast transmission over a wireless LAN. We assume that a wireless access point transmits audio and video streams from a server on a wired network to several terminals connected to the access point. We compare the three schemes: unicast, groupcast without reliability, and LBP (Leader Based Protocol). A computer simulation is performed with various load and wireless channel conditions to assess QoS, and a subjective experiment is carried out for QoE assessment. From the assessment results, we con?rm that LBP achieves higher QoE than unicast and groupcast without reliability under various situations.
