Abstract:

In this paper, we studied a real-time direction-finding system using the time-modulated array (TMA) and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). Our system is composed of two commercial monopole antennas, a self-designed RF switch board, and USRP. The direction-finding system using TMA has the advantages of simpler hardware architecture than the conventional type using a phased-array antenna. Additionally, it is simple to calculate with this system compared with others. Our system is controlled by the LabVIEW program in real time. From the results of the experiment, our system can exactly detect the incident angle of the target within 4 degrees in the range of 30 degrees.
