Abstract:

In this work we consider an uplink 4G network model with retransmissions. The most important novel elements of the model the are interference control and a buffer of infinite capacity. We introduce a mean-field approximation of the interference and investigate its accuracy via stochastic simulation. We study network behaviour within the ‘real’ model and the approximated one, mainly with focus on a high density of mobile users, and compare the results under different parameters. We also empirically analyze network performance measures such as utilization, coverage probability, average buffer size and empty buffer probability. We then again compare these metrics to evaluate the accuracy of the approximation.
