Abstract:

This paper presents a solar energy processor based on Packed U-Cells inverter for grid applications. The proposed single phase multilevel inverter PUC allows the generation of 7-level output voltage. Two control techniques are used in this work. MPPT is applied on the PV in order to extract the maximum power, while the aim of MPC or the model predictive control is to balance three variables in the system; the grid current, the capacitor voltage in the PUC as well as the BOOST output voltage. The feasibility of the designed system is validated by simulation using Matlab-Simulink-SimPowerSystems.
